Northern Illinois University seeks applications and nominations for the position of chairperson of the Department of Operations Management and Information Systems (OM & IS). Required qualifications include: (1) earned doctorate with significant intellectual contributions in Operations Management or Information Systems; (2) eligible for tenure, and appointment at the Associate Professor rank or higher; and (3) interest in leading a department encompassing both the OM and IS disciplines. The individual should possess leadership and communication skills and the ability to interact with a wide range of constituents including faculty, administration, students, alumni, and the business community.

In addition to leading the strategic initiatives of the department, the chairperson is responsible for the administration of the department including budgeting, staffing, scheduling, mentoring and supervision. The department chair serves as a member of the College Senate and reports to the Dean of the College of Business.

The Department of OM & IS has twelve full-time tenure track faculty positions and is one of five departments in the College of Business. It has approximately 150 undergraduate majors, 60 graduate IS majors, and supports an MBA program with more than 800 students. The College of Business is accredited by AACSB International in its undergraduate and graduate programs. It has approximately 3900 students in six business majors. The college is housed in a five-year-old state-of-the-art facility, Barsema Hall. Northern Illinois University is located in DeKalb, IL, 60 miles west of the Chicago loop and 30 miles from the western edge of the suburbs.
