The School of Industrial Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology invites applications for a position at assistant professor (tenure-track) or associate professor (with tenure) level in the area of Operations Management. While researchers with any specialization in the area of Operations Management are invited to apply, we especially encourage researchers with interests in one of the following specific areas to apply:
• research at the interface between Finance, Accounting, Operations, Revenue, and/or Risk Management
• research at the interface between Reliability, Operations, Quality and/or Maintenance
The Department of Technology Management (TM) has two Schools: the School of Innovation Sciences and the School of Industrial Engineering. Within the School of Industrial Engineering five degree programs are taught: a BSc in Industrial Engineering and Management Science (Technische Bedrijfskunde), a BSc in Industrial Engineering for Health Care, MSc programmes in Operations Management & Logistics and Innovation Management, and a PhD Program in Operations Management & Logistics.
The OPAC area (Operations Planning, Accounting, and Control) currently consists of 4 chaired full-time professors, 2 chaired part-time professors, 1 associate professor, 8 assistant professors, 2 postdocs, 17 PhD candidates, and an additional number of instructors and support staff. They teach and conduct research in the area of Operations Management, with specific emphasis on planning and control in manufacturing, services, and supply chains, in the area of Finance and Accounting oriented towards operational processes, and in the area of Quality, Reliability and Maintenance. Research is generally quantitative in nature, while many of the researchers also engage in empirical research. All research is embedded in BETA, the KNAW-recognized research school for Operations Management & Logistics.
The School of Industrial Engineering is one of the longest-established IE Schools in Europe, with a strong presence in the international research and education community, especially in the field of Operations Management and Operations Research. OM and OR are at the core of the undergraduate IE program. The graduate programs (MSc and PhD) in Operations Management & Logistics attract top-level students from all over the world to Eindhoven. Researchers in the School are member of the BETA Netherlands Research School in Operations Management & Logistics (http://fp.tm.tue.nl/beta/) and participate in industrial activities with members of the European Supply Chain Forum (http://escf.tm.tue.nl/).
Requirements
Applicants for the assistant professor (tenure-track) level should have a PhD degree in Operations Management, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or closely related area. The candidates should have demonstrated potential for excellent teaching and research.
Applicants for the associate professor (with tenure) level moreover should have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching, and proven ability to acquire competitive research funding from funding agencies and from industry.
Appointment and Salary
Base salaries are in the range of €43,000 - €80,000 per annum with attractive benefits, depending on rank and experience. Substantial tax benefits apply to non-Dutch citizens conditional on the permission granted by the Dutch Tax Office.
