Faculty Positions in Operations Management

The Department of Operations and Information Management (OIM) at the Wisconsin School of Business, University of Wisconsin-Madison, seeks to fill two faculty positions in the operations management area, starting fall 2009. One is to teach the MBA core course in Operations Management. Starting rank is at the senior Assistant Professor level or above. Evidence of excellent MBA-level teaching is required, as well as a strong research record. For the other position we are interested in candidates with teaching interests in introductory operations management, global operations management, lean, operations strategy, supply chain management, process management, and/or service operations management. Research interests in supply chain management, the intersection of IT and OM, or the healthcare or financial services industries are preferred, but not essential. Rank is open. Excellence in teaching and research is stressed. The annual teaching load for both positions is three courses.

The OIM department offers one major at the graduate level – a day-time MBA in Operations and Technology Management with tracks in Operations and IT Management, and two majors at the undergraduate levels – Operations and Technology Management, and Information Systems. We also have a presence in the Evening and Executive MBA programs. Our faculty members specialize in operations & supply chain management, quality management, operations research, managerial economics, and information systems. The department administers the Erdman Center for Operations and Technology Management (http://www.bus.wisc.edu/erdman/) and has close connections with the Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management (http://www.bus.wisc.edu/grainger/), both of which are founded on cross-functional perspectives. Faculty members also maintain close links with the Center for Quick Response Manufacturing, the Industrial and Systems Engineering department, the Manufacturing Systems Engineering program, and the E-Business Consortium – all in the College of Engineering.
