Michigan Technological University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Service Systems Engineering within the Department of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics (ME-EM). Outstanding educators are sought with teaching and research interests that emphasize service systems design, analysis, and operations; human factors, risk management, project management, and/or optimization and adaptive decision making. The successful applicant is expected to establish and sustain an active, extramurally funded research program, mentor graduate students, develop and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, and be a part of an interdisciplinary team that is developing a new service systems engineering curriculum.
The University is building relationships with practitioners and researchers in engineering services, contract management services, logistical operations, health care, utilities, transportation systems, information technology services, financial services, and hospitality services and is looking for faculty members who can contribute to curriculum development and research. The Department is particularly interested in applicants with interests and experience in the area of service processes and systems. Applicants for the positions much have earned doctorates in a field consistent with service systems engineering. The anticipated starting date is August 2009. Appointment may be at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor levels.
