Assistant or Associate Professor of Management

The Department of Management, Marketing, & International Business at Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Management effective August 2009 (fall semester). The successful candidate will teach upper-division and possibly MBA courses in operations management, quantitative methods, and related areas; conduct and publish research consistent with the teaching areas; and participate in university and professional service. Pay is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications. New business faculty usually teach nine hours in fall and spring semesters with summer teaching possible for extra compensation but not guaranteed. The official position announcement can be found at:

The position requires an earned doctorate in operations management or a closely related field, preferably from an AACSB-accredited institution. Evidence of the ability to teach effectively and to conduct publishable research is essential. Practical experience in operations management or a related field and the ability to teach management information systems are desirable but not required. ABD candidates will be considered for the Assistant rank if degree requirements are likely to be completed within the first year of appointment.

The College of Business is AACSB-accredited and includes BBA and MBA programs. The university currently has about 12,000 students, with about 2,000 in the College of Business. The Department of Management, Marketing, & International Business is the largest department in the college and includes faculty in all areas of management and marketing including those who teach international management and international marketing. SFA is located in Nacogdoches, Texas, a town of about 30,000 in the rolling hills and piney woods of East Texas. Nacogdoches is about two and one half hours north of Houston and about three hours southeast of Dallas.
