The Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Operations Management (OM) at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. In addition to conducting scholarly research in the field of OM, the position will also involve teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and service. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in Operations Management, Operations Research, or a related field before starting the position. The area of specialization is open. Salary is competitive. Appointment is effective August 16, 2009.

The Operations Management program at the University of Alabama includes an undergraduate major in OM, an M.S. degree program in OM which is offered both on campus and online, as well as a Ph.D. degree program in OM. The OM faculty also provides support for the Supply Chain & Operations Management concentration in the M.B.A. program. The OM program is a strong and growing program whose students and faculty have benefited particularly from the growth of the automotive industry and the resurgence of the steel industry in the state of Alabama. Recently, the undergraduate program was ranked 12th in the U.S. by BusinessWeek. The program is well-rounded and includes courses and research projects in the areas of manufacturing, distribution, logistics, transportation, and supply chain operations. Students and faculty are frequently involved in projects with local industry and government through the Alabama Productivity Center which is also housed within the same college.
