Faculty Position in Operations Management

The Department of Operations and Information Management (OIM) seeks candidates for one faculty position in the operations management area, starting fall 2010. Preferred starting rank is at the senior Assistant Professor level or above. The annual teaching load is three courses. The primary teaching responsibility is the MBA core course in Operations Management. Evidence of excellent MBA-level teaching is required. Besides the core course, other teaching interests could include global operations management, lean, operations strategy, supply chain management, project management, and/or service operations management. Interest in participating in executive education would be a plus. Research interests in supply chain management, the intersection of IT and OM, or the healthcare or financial services industries are of interest, but not essential. A strong research record is assumed.

The OIM department offers one major at the graduate level – a day-time MBA in Operations and Technology Management with tracks in Operations and IT Management, and two majors at the undergraduate levels – Operations and Technology Management, and Information Systems. We also have a presence in the Evening and Executive MBA programs. Our faculty members specialize in operations & supply chain management, quality management, operations research, managerial economics, and information systems. The department administers the Erdman Center for Operations and Technology Management (http://www.bus.wisc.edu/erdman/) and has close connections with the Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management (http://www.bus.wisc.edu/grainger/), both of which are founded on cross-functional perspectives. Faculty members also maintain close links with the Center for Quick Response Manufacturing, the Industrial and Systems Engineering department, the Manufacturing Systems Engineering program, and the E-Business Consortium – all in the College of Engineering.

For information about the Wisconsin School of Business and living in Madison, see http://www.bus.wisc.edu/ , http://www.bus.wisc.edu/mba/experience/madison.asp, and http://www.wisc.edu/employment/madison.php, respectively.
