The Center for Latin-American Logistics Innovation (CLI) in Bogotá, Colombia– an innovative institute of supply chain research and education founded in 2008 by LOGyCA in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Transportation and Logistics (MIT-CTL) – has two open positions for Post Doctoral Associates, starting May 2010. One or two year appointments are available.

The CLI is the newest member of MIT’s Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence (SCALE) Network of research centers in the area of transportation, logistics and supply chain. This network includes MIT-CTL and the Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) and will continue to expand throughout the globe.

Responsibilities
Postdoctoral Associates will focus on research in the following areas: emerging markets, sustainability, supply chain strategy, supply chain security, and freight transportation. Will be responsible for conducting independent research, assist and take leadership in writing manuscripts, meet with project sponsors, and assist the director in all matters related to the project.

As part of the CLI research team, the candidate is responsible for creating, supporting, and disseminating new knowledge in logistics, supply chain management, and related fields. Postdoctoral Associates are expected to conduct high quality research; publish in top international journals, academic proceedings, trade journals, and CLI working papers; participate fully in all industrial and educational programs offered and supported by CLI, to include teaching both executive and occasionally graduate level courses in English.

Qualifications
The position requires a PhD in operations management, logistics, supply chain management, marketing and logistics, procurement, systems dynamics, or related fields. Preferred and potential areas of research include:


  • Supply Chain Management in Emerging Economies

  • Impact of Infrastructure on Logistics Operations

  • Sustainable Supply Chains

  • Supply Chain Risk, Security and Resilience

  • Global Sourcing, Procurement, and Logistics

  • Transportation

Excellent communications and presentation skills are needed. Relevant experience in industry, applied research, or coordination of international research projects is a plus. Spanish language skills are not required.
