POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Assistant/Associate Professor of
Operations Management and Quantitative Methods

The School of Business and Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for a full-time position as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Operations Management and Quantitative Methods beginning August 2010.

The undergraduate Business and MBA programs are accredited by the AACSB International. The School offers baccalaureate programs in Business, Management Information Systems, and Computer Science. The Business program supports concentrations in accounting, finance, human resource management, marketing, and general business. There are approximately 700 business majors and 95 MBA students. The School has 26 FTE faculty and academic staff. Well-known firms such as Daimler-Chrysler Corporation, Case New Holland (CNH), Jockey International, JohnsonDiversey, S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc., and Snap-on, Inc. are located minutes from the University. Other firms such as Harley-Davidson, Johnson Controls, Northwestern Mutual, Abbott Laboratories, and Cardinal Health are located in nearby Milwaukee and Northern Illinois.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Management Science, Operations Management/Research or a similar quantitative field in Business. ABD will be considered for a one-year terminal appointment as a Lecturer, with conversion to tenure track Assistant Professor if all requirements for the Ph.D. have been successfully completed by June 2011. Applicants must be able to teach business statistics, production and operations management, project management, decision theory, and management science/operations management electives at both the undergraduate and MBA levels. The successful candidate will be required to teach some classes in these areas online. Applicants must provide evidence of quality teaching and a commitment to scholarly research. For appointment at the associate rank, the applicant must meet these requirements and provide evidence of an active journal publication record that is commensurate with the department requirements for this rank.

Preferred Qualifications:
Completed doctorate in Management Science, Operations Management or a similar quantitative field in Business from an AACSB accredited institution is strongly preferred. Research and teaching interests in healthcare management, healthcare operations and/or sustainable management is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with  peer-reviewed journal publications, successful teaching record, relevant business experience, online teaching experience, and  active community involvement. Experience working with students from a variety of economic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds and the use of a variety of pedagogical styles is preferred.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and MBA operations management, quantitative methods and project management courses, research and publication, and involvement in department, campus, and/or community service. The successful candidate will be required to teach some classes online. 

Salary:
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and competitive with AACSB standards. The UW-System provides a liberal benefits package including participation in a state pension plan.
