This team player will provide operations and administrative support to manufacturing managers and follow documented procedures and processing standards to perform duties related to operations, administrative and customer service support to ensure thoroughness, accuracy, and completeness. Additional responsibilities include performing duties under general supervision, seeking advice and direction to respond to non-routine issues, and referring more complex issues to senior team members for resolution.

Specifically, the Operations Support Specialist will:

  • Provide assistance to Plant Management by compiling production metrics (safety, quality, cost and service performance) into report format.
  • Prepare and issue weekly and monthly quality reports based on information provided by Managers and data acquired from system.
  • Monitor and report yield performance for yarn and WIP as well as priority products.
  • Track machine changes to ensure visibility when increases occur.
  • Prepare reports for carpet specification changes; may update information in system.
  • Track rework to ensure continuous improvement; track efficiencies for tufting/dyeing/coating.
  • Monitor material performance through all tufting facilities. Monitor creel cutbacks to ensure minimal EOL processing.
  • Maintain multiple data reports and compile information for management meetings.
  • Assist in preparation of Performance Review data.
  • Assist in preparation of Carpet Improvement Team data.
  • Assist with waste capture data.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Qualifications include:

  • High school diploma/GED and one-year college or technical school certification.
  • 3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of carpet material and components.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Company brands and product information necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Knowledge of commonly used quality assurance concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • MUST have demonstrated advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, and Access (or Sequel); AS400 and Lotus Notes a plus.
  • Accurate data entry skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Must be detail oriented and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as external customers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure and compute rates.
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to follow planning parameters.
