Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in Operations and Supply Chain Management

The Department of Management at Clemson University invites applications for one tenure track Assistant Professor position in Operations and Supply Chain Management to begin in Fall 2011. We are seeking candidates who are committed to publishing high quality research that will impact the field and who can interact effectively with peers in enhancing the intellectual climate of the OM/SCM program. The candidate should have excellent communication skills and be able to teach at a level consistent with Clemson’s high standards.

Candidates seeking appointment at the rank of assistant professor must have an earned Ph.D. (or anticipate completing all requirements for the doctorate by August 15, 2011). Individuals who can teach courses in innovative, closed-loop and sustainable supply chains or healthcare operations are preferred. However, the search committee welcomes applications from highly qualified candidates with diverse interests in operations and supply chain management, including sustainability, healthcare operations, operations strategy; service operations; logistics and purchasing; e-operations/commerce; operations/finance interfaces; operation/human resource interfaces; supply chain / information systems; and revenue management. We seek candidates who are able to use a wide range of research methodologies; however, preference will be given to those with strength in econometrics, behavioral methodologies and/or analytic modeling. The Operations and Supply Chain Management faculty at Clemson University is a vibrant and innovative group of scholars. The group actively participates in the OM/SCM research community, holding senior editorial positions at top-tier disciplinary journals; participating in thought leadership groups, forums, and academic conferences; and holding leadership roles in professional societies.

The Department of Management is an academic unit within the College of Business and Behavioral Science. The Department has 24 tenured/tenure-track faculty members and offers a Bachelor of Science degree in management with six areas of emphasis, a Master of Science degree in management, and a Ph.D. degree in management with concentrations in operations and supply chain management, and management information systems. Members of the search committee and other faculty members will be available to meet with selected candidates at the annual meetings of INFORMS and Decision Science Institute. Preliminary interviews with selected candidates may be scheduled in advance of these conferences if the applications are received prior to October 15, 2010 and November 15, 2010 respectively.
