Gupta Award

The Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) created the Sushil K. Gupta POMS Distinguished Service Award in its annual meeting in Chicago, April 20, 2012, to recognize contributions made by those members who substantially contributed to the growth of the Society. The award was named after Sushil to honor him for his dedicated services to POMS.

The recipient must be a long-standing member of POMS. The recipient must have significantly enhanced the general welfare of POMS members through service contributions. The recipient must have served POMS members for a minimum of 6 years in one or more significant leadership roles. The recipient must be a POMS member in good standing.

The recipient would receive an award along with a $2,000 honorarium. The recipient would also receive a lifetime POMS membership.

The first Sushil K. Gupta POMS Distinguished Service Award was given at the POM Annual Conference Awards Ceremony in Denver, May 3 - May 6, 2013.

The Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) created the POMS Distinguished Service Award in its annual meeting in Reno, April 29, 2011 to recognize contributions made by its members to the growth of the Society.

In its quest to identify the most deserving person to receive the first award, it was no surprise that the POMS Board, consisting of 28 people from around the world, unanimously and very enthusiastically voted in its meeting in Chicago, April 20, 2012, that the first POMS Distinguished Service Award should be given to Dr. Sushil K. Gupta, POMS Executive Director, Professor at Florida International University (FIU), USA. Sushil was presented with the award during the POMS awards ceremony luncheon on April 22, 2012 in Chicago.
