Vice President Supply Chain Operations - Buy to Pay Shared Service, Kaiser Permanente

 

Motz is helping lead a supply chain transformation at Kaiser Permanente to improve operational efficiency and service quality for our members, clinicians, and employees. His role oversees, in partnership, supply chain operations in all regions. Additional national functional areas under his leadership include: Item Master, Demand Planning, Pharmacy purchasing and internal distribution, SOX compliance and transactional technology.

Executive Chairman & Chief Medical Officer, CentraForce Health

 

Stephen Newman, M.D. presently serves as the Executive Chairman and Chief Medical Officer of CentraForce Health, a company that seeks to harness the power attitudinal, behavioral, communications, engagement and socioeconomic data to improve clinical and cost outcomes. Steve brings over 20 years of executive level healthcare management experience to CentraForce Health. In addition, his 15 years as a pediatric gastroenterologist provides a unique clinical perspective to the challenges payers face and how gaining insights into population health can make a positive difference in business and clinical outcomes.

Vice President & Health Research Lead, HKS

 

Dr. Deborah Wingler’s research focuses on improving the patient and staff experience through research studies that utilize real-time data collection techniques to elicit insight into patient and staff physiological, psychological and neural responses to high stress healthcare environments. As Vice President and Health Research Lead for HKS, Deborah collaborates with research and design teams to develop and implement research initiatives that drive innovation and achieve meaningful and measurable impact across the healthcare practice globally.

Maomao Chen 

Principal Research Scientist, Senior Manager, Amazon.com

 

Dr. Maomao Chen currently is responsible for staffing across Amazon.com, that is over 500 thousands of associates from fulfillment centers, to Sort center, to Last Mile Delivery Stations across different countries. He is the Principal Research Scientist at Amazon.com, and has 14 years of experience with working in different departments at Amazon: Supply Chain, Customer Service and Global Delivery. Maomao has built and implemented the planning and optimization model to make decision on staffing, inventory and delivery network topology. The projects, including the widely-adopted Inventory Load Balance Controller, Optimal Regional Inventory placement, Labor Capacity Planning, etc., have saved the company over millions of dollars. Maomao hold two US patents.

Hossein Jahandideh

Data Scientist, Google

 

Dr. Hossein Jahandideh is a data scientist in Google’s Operations Data Science team, which is responsible for forecasting, planning, and shaping the growth of Google’s technical infrastructure. Hossein’s specific contributions during his time at Google include defining and verifying a unified policy for planning the mix of machine types in data centers, redefining how lead-time randomness and forecast errors should be treated and interpreted in the technical infrastructure supply chain, and paving the way for the introduction of new data-center network technologies by evaluating and addressing risks and setting up an automated decision support system to drive the supply chain of the new product.

Senior Supply Chain Technology Fellow, Dow Inc.

 

Dr. John Wassick is the Sr. Integrated Supply Chain Technology Fellow in the Integrated Supply Chain Innovation Center at Dow Inc where he is primarily responsible for technical leadership across all the innovation domains in the center which include IOT/Interoperability, Analytics, Process Automation, and Digital Twin. He has leadership responsibility for external engagement and intellectual property strategy.

MARTIN K. STARR AWARD
 

RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE IN PRODUCTION AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT PRACTICE

 

The Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) has instituted the Martin K. Starr Excellence in Production and Operations Management Practice Award to recognize contributions made to the field of Production and Operations Management (POM) by POM practitioners. It is an international award that is open to all POM practitioners from around the world. 

 

The POMS' Board in its annual meeting held on April 28 2006 in Boston, U.S.A., unanimously approved that the award be named after Dr. Martin K. Starr. The POMS' Board in its deliberations noted that Dr. Starr has contributed to POMS and its activities since its inception and has been a constant source of guidance and inspiration to POMS. Naming this award after him is indeed a great recognition of his services to the POM profession in general and the POM Society in particular.

POM APPLIED RESEARCH CHALLENGE
 

POMS Applied Research Challenge (ARC) is a competition that is intended to encourage its academic members to conduct rigorous applied research that is relevant to practice and innovative. This competition is based on topics selected or approved by our practitioner panel.

6TH POMS APPLIED RESEARCH CHALLENGE
 

The Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) invites submissions to the 6th POMS Applied Research Challenge. This biennial competition was established in 2012 as a way to encourage POMS members (faculty and students) to conduct rigorous applied research that is innovative and relevant to practice.
