2026 HOCM Mini-Conference: Thursday, May 7, 2026
SAVE THE DATE - May 7th, 2026
The HOCM College will host its annual mini-conference on Thursday, May 7, 2026—one day prior to the main conference. This year’s theme is “Humanitarian Operations for Populations at Risk.”
We will focus on the critical issues vulnerable populations face in the wake of extreme events (such as winter storms and wildfires), or in meeting their basic needs (e.g., housing, health). The discussions will revolve around the resources available to marginalized groups, the organizations serving them, and how humanitarian operations can more effectively address their needs.
Representatives from humanitarian organizations and the public sector will reflect on the challenges faced, how they adapt their operations to support populations at risk, and how HOCM research can help address them. This is an excellent opportunity to engage with practitioners, exchange ideas, inform, and inspire your research!
Join us for this unique opportunity to learn from practitioners and academics. You can register for the HOCM mini conference as part of the POMS conference registration, so be sure to look out for the registration option!
Stay tuned for the full conference schedule. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please email Diana Ramirez-Rios, Junior HOCM VP of meetings at dgramire@buffalo.edu, Feyza G. Sahinyazan, Senior HOCM VP of meetings at feyza_sahinyazan@sfu.ca, or Johanna Amaya, HOCM President at amayaj@psu.edu.
We are looking forward to seeing you there!
